Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 8, 2026

1. Who we are

Skillvera is a live cohort learning platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information when you use our website, applications, classrooms, and related services.

We aim to handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, applicable Nigerian regulations, and other relevant legal obligations.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your name, email address, password hash, role, and profile details you choose to provide
  • Payment and transaction data: enrolments, payment references, invoices, and related records from processors such as Paystack; we do not store your card details directly
  • Classroom and learning data: course progress, attendance, assignment activity, discussion posts, session notes, and support interactions
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser details, access times, pages visited, classroom join history, and security logs
  • Communications: messages sent to support, transactional emails, and reports of abuse, fraud, or infringement

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create, secure, and manage user accounts
  • process enrolments, payments, refunds, and billing issues
  • deliver courses, live classes, and learning support
  • send transactional notices such as verification codes and receipts
  • monitor performance, prevent fraud, and secure the Platform
  • investigate abuse, chargebacks, account misuse, and intellectual property theft
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell personal data to third parties and we do not use personal data for third-party advertising.

4. Lawful bases for processing

Depending on the context, we process personal information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, comply with legal obligations, pursue our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Platform, or because you have given consent where consent is required.

5. Data sharing

We share data only where reasonably necessary to run the Platform:

  • Paystack for payment processing and transaction verification
  • Classroom and communications providers such as Zoom or similar tools used to deliver live sessions
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers used to run, secure, and store Platform data
  • Professional advisers or authorities where necessary for disputes, fraud prevention, legal claims, or compliance with lawful requests

We require service providers to handle personal information only as needed for the relevant service and with appropriate safeguards.

6. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

We use cookies, session tokens, and local storage to authenticate users, keep the Platform working, improve security, and remember preferences such as selected pricing currency. These technologies are primarily functional and operational rather than advertising tools.

7. Monitoring, classroom recordings, and enforcement logs

To protect users and the business, we may maintain logs of account access, device/browser activity, classroom joins, downloads, payment events, and reports of abuse or infringement.

Some live sessions, support interactions, or educational resources may be recorded or retained for quality assurance, operational continuity, dispute resolution, security investigation, or educational access where permitted by law.

8. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including account management, course delivery, fraud prevention, dispute handling, and legal or financial record-keeping obligations.

If you request account deletion, we will aim to delete or de-identify personal data within a reasonable period, subject to records we must retain for compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or legitimate business protection.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to our processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

To make a privacy request, contact team@skillvera.io.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls, credential protections, encryption in transit where available, logging, and platform monitoring. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so users should also protect their credentials and notify us promptly of suspected compromise.

11. Children

The Platform is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without appropriate authority. If you believe such data has been provided to us improperly, contact us and we will investigate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, legal requirements, or our practices. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the latest version.
